When I first heard of copywork I wondered why anyone would use it. It seemed so unnecessary. Here I am two years later eating my words. I started using it last school year as additional handwriting practice and my boys enjoyed it. Not only does it give them handwriting practice, but it gives them practice using punctuation and different sentence structures.
My second grader does his copywork by copying a sentence from the book he is reading. In this picture he is copying a sentence from the Dragons of Blueland book.

Here is a sample of my Kindergartener’s copywork. I copy part of his reading book. I write it on one line and my son copies it on the next line.
