CPO Physical, Earth, and Space Science Plans

CPO Physical Earth and Space Science Plans

I like CPO science.  Many are steered away from it because of the extensive list of expensive lab supplies that are recommended.  This is my second time using CPO science and we have found that it works well without spending a ton of money.  I’ve adapted some of the science investigations and substituted others.  This time through we are actually doing less investigations overall and are spending more time on videos especially since my son did most of the investigations along with his older brother a couple years ago.

We have pretty much done unit studies for science throughout the elementary years.  In middle school, I started venturing into using textbooks because of my personal limitations on science knowledge.  A textbook explains things in a way that I cannot.  A teacher’s edition allows me to check my child’s understanding too.cpo

CPO Physical, Earth, and Space Science is an integrated textbook.  It combines physical science, chemistry, earth science, and astronomy.   The publisher of the textbook states that it is designed to be an integrated hands-on approach to a high school physical science.

My 6th grader is using CPO Physical, Earth, and Space Science, but I’m spreading it out over 2 school years.  This year he will probably get through 4-5 units so those are the only ones I’m listing here.  He is finishing up his microbiology unit study and doing some engineering projects this year too.

We are using:

  1. What a timely post, thank you! I purchased this last year and have been working hard at making it work for us. But I was becoming a bit frustrated and began looking at other programs (ie. Apologia). I think this will help us stay with it for a while longer! Science is not my strength but my son is strong at it and I don’t want to be a hindrance. Thanks again!
