Last Day of the School Year

We had our last day of school for the 2012-2013 school year today.  I think this is the earliest we have finished in the last 4-5 years!  We make the first and last day of school party days so we don’t have any academics at all.

Today we started off with pinata fun right after breakfast so Dad could be part of that fun.  My youngest and I have been working on making a pinata for over a week.

We then had some Bible time followed by student-parent conferences.  For that I sat down with each kid one-on-one and discussed what they liked about this school year, what didn’t work for them, what they would like to do next year, and I went over some of next year’s plans with them.
This was followed by a Wii-a-thon.  This involved me attempting to avoid getting in last place in Mario Kart Wii.  We had a few sports games in the mix too.  After lunch, I set up the brand new slip and slide and the kids went outside for popsicles and water fun.

After a couple of hours sliding outside (my poor grass!) the kids came in to watch The Wizard of Oz.  My youngest son just finished reading this book a few days ago and I thought it made a great end of the year movie.  Even my youngest liked it.
We plan to start next school year on July 15th!  Next year it will be our 7th year homeschooling with kids in Kindergarten, 4th grade, and 6th grade.
