As I was looking for resources for our study of the world this year I ran across a great site that lets you watch TV from a variety of countries around the world.
For our study of the Arctic we went to Greenland’s TV station and watched the news. Now, it was not in English, but we were able to figure out what they were saying and see the important news events of the day. My kids discovered that Nick Jr was fun to watch in the Netherlands even though they couldn’t understand Dora.
You can watch over 2700 different free stations. Some stations did not work well, but we kept trying and were able to watch a Chinese kid’s station briefly. You can access the stations by country or by category. I’ve found it to be a great supplement to geography and language studies. Check it out here.
