I am using Bob Jones English 3 with my oldest son this year. Bob Jones English covers grammar and writing. I really love the thoroughness of the grammar, but we are on the second unit of writing right now and I’m not loving the writing section. Neither does my son. The writing portion is quite scripted. It covers a lot of the mechanics of writing and downplays the creative aspect. It approaches writing through a parts to whole learning style and my son fits better with a whole to parts learning style. So now what? I’m not going to give up on old Bob Jones just yet. When we come to the next writing unit I think I will just read over the unit and have my son write without specific instruction and then go over his writing with him afterwards. That is the tentative plan for now. This is one of the great things I love about homeschooling. If something doesn’t fit your child you can adapt or change it.

Yes, we do need to meet in person. I’ll have to contact you through the other site. I haven’t used Bob Jones 2. This was my first venture into Bob Jones. At this point I’m not sure if I will continue with them or not for next year. We’ll see. I used Writing Strands before and I really liked it.
I really got to come meet you in person. I am so impress with all the things you do with your boys. I am planning to use BJU English next year with Zach, have you used the 2 as well?
