We kicked off the first day of school today with a bit of fun. Our first day of school didn’t contain any formal work. Instead, we celebrated the beginning of a new school year. We are starting in July and plan to finish the school year next June with lots of breaks along the way.
Here are my three in grade 7, grade 1 and grade 5.
Each of them had their picture taken with a small white board that displayed their grade.

After taking pictures we took some time to make some Rocky Road pudding pops. My kids saw this video earlier in the summer and decided they wanted to make these on the first day of school.
My boys then tried out a new knot tying game.
Dutch Blitz fun!
By the time lunch came around, the pudding pops were ready.
After lunch we all enjoyed the game of Pit. It was a close one, but my 5th grader pulled a last minute win.
After our game we had just enough time for a little movie to end our day. My kids enjoyed the hijinks of Tim Conway and Don Knotts.
It was great to celebrate the beginning of a new school year. Tomorrow we will jump right into our regular schedule. I’m hoping it won’t take long to get into a good rhythm.
