My boy like hands-on activities and I like chocolate so this activity had us all happy! We were studying the days of creation. For the first day, I came up with this activity to demonstrate “let there be light” when there had been darkness.
To start with we melted some semi-sweet chocolate chips in the microwave. Once they melted, I placed a dollop of the melted chocolate onto wax paper for my two kids.
They used a spoon to spread the chocolate around the wax paper. Once they were done, I placed the chocolate into the freezer for 5 minutes to allow them to harden.
While it was hardening, I melted some white chocolate in the microwave. Once the white chocolate was melted and smooth, I removed the chocolate-covered wax paper from the freezer.
I then put a spoonful of white chocolate on top of the chocolate rounds from the freezer. My kids then spread that chocolate around with the back of a spoon. They had to spread it gently in order to keep the white from mixing with the brown chocolate. One son didn’t do it quite so gently so the light part was light brown instead of white.
Once completed they ate them up! It was a rather simple activity, but we all had some yummy creating fun.
My second daughter started to cook about a year ago. Now she cooks several times a week. She made jam tarts three times in the last five days!
