The voting in our pie baking competition has now finished and we have a winner. In case you missed it, we are enjoying different baking competitions throughout the school year. Each child is judged according to taste and looks. Taste is judged by whomever we have available to taste test at the time the competition is completed. Looks are judged by online votes. Pictures of the final creations can be found here.
The results for the best tasting pie were:
1st place was the Truly Coconutty Cream Pie made by my 6th grader.
2nd place was the OREO Triple Layer Chocolate Pie made by my 4th grader. The OREO pie used a Chocolate Cream Pie recipe and homemade whipped cream instead of packaged pudding mix and premade whipped topping. While the best tasting pie was the Truly Coconutty Cream Pie, the OREO Triple Layer Chocolate Pie was a family favorite and was easily the first one gone.
3rd place was the Blueberry Pie with a Flaky Pie Crust.
The votes for the best looking pie were as follows:
1st place with 93 votes – Truly Coconutty Cream Pie made by my 6th grader
2nd place with 85 votes – Blueberry Pie made by my Kindergartner
3rd place with 14 votes – OREO Triple Layer Chocolate Cream Pie made by my 4th grader
Points are assigned for each category and a total number of points are tallied for the entire school year. At this point here are the standings:
1st place – 6th grader with 24 points
2nd place – Kindergartner with 20 points
3rd place – 4th grader with 17 points
