The start of a new school year is exciting. As we begin our 3rd year of homeschooling with my boys now in 2nd grade and Kindergarten, it is time to celebrate. Celebration can take many forms, but this year we are celebrating by playing lot of games together and exploring our new books. We don’t do any formal work on the first day of school. We call it a party day!
Here is my 2nd grader right after he went through his new school books.
This school year, we have having four days a week that involve some formal work. Every Wednesday will be game day. During this day we are spending the entire day playing board games or card games together. As a result, I purchased several new games to add to our stash.
Playing Take Off, a fun geography game where you must get your planes across the globe first. Check out my review of the game here.
Playing Snorta, a silly game where you have to make the right animal sound to get cards. The difficult part is the animal sound you need to make doesn’t match the animal card you see in front of you.
Playing Corintho, an ancient Greece stacking game. See my review here.
Playing Sputnik, a strategy game where you make your rocket go around the universe to different galaxies.
Playing Dutch Blitz. They thought this game looked boring until they tried it. They’re hooked! See my review here.
Have you played any of these games? Which is your favorite?
have a great school year!
