Spring planting

Spring has come!  Earlier this week we took a morning to go down to the local garden center. We chose about 10 different kinds of tomato plants, red cabbage plants, brussel sprouts plants, and green pepper plants. We also made sure to get some pole beans, bush beans, cantaloupe, peas, and cucumber seeds.

My oldest son decided he wanted his own patch this year.  He is growing cantaloupe, white tomatoes, and peas in his little patch.

Once all the plants and seeds found their new home I released the last of the ladybugs.  Hopefully some will lay their eggs in our backyard.

We are using organic gardening methods to grow our vegetables.  This year we purchased some ladybugs and a praying mantis egg case as beneficial insects.  The praying mantis egg case could hatch any day now.
